We are pleased to announce the successful completion of a two-part webinar series titled “Securing Our Food Supply Chains: EU’s Innovative Initiatives to Combat Food Fraud, Improve Food Traceability and Sustainability, and Increase Consumers’ Trust”, held on 11 and 13 September 2024.
This event brought together leading EU-funded projects, policymakers, and key stakeholders to discuss cutting-edge strategies and ideas aimed at securing and enhancing the integrity of Europe’s food supply chains through creating active pathways for cross-fertilization and exchange of good practices .
With over 40 representatives attending, including officials from the European Commission (among them THEROS Project Officer Ms. Giovana Rizzetto) and several key projects, both webinars served as a stepping stone for knowledge sharing, networking, and exploring potential synergies.
Both workshops were moderated by Ms. Elena Krikigianni, Communication and Dissemination Manager of THEROS project and were co-organised between all involved projects.
Webinar 1: Wednesday, 11 September 2024
The first session kicked off with an introductory roundtable and project presentations from FishEUtrust, SEA2SEE, and WATSON. These projects showcased their innovative approaches to addressing food fraud and enhancing sustainability across various segments of the food industry.
Webinar 2: Friday, 13 September 2024
The second session opened with a keynote presentation by Ms. Daniela Lueth, Policy Officer – DG RTD, Ms. Ana Patricia Lopez, Policy Officer – DG AGRI and Mr. Jorge Molina Villanueva, Policy Officer – DG RTD from the European Commission, discussing the Food 2030 initiative and its critical role in shaping the future of sustainable food systems. This was followed by presentations from ALLIANCE, THEROS, and CUES projects, highlighting their work in food traceability and consumer trust. The newly launched TealHelix project also provided an insightful overview of its objectives and vision for the future of food systems.
