THEROS project, officially started on January 1st, 2023, and kicked-off, physically, on February 23rd-24th, 2023, in Athens, Greece.

THEROS is a Horizon Europe project that brings together a complementary consortium of 17 partners within 6 EU Member States, with the view to implement an integrated toolbox being capable to modernise the process of verifying organic and geographical indications food products and preventing adulterations and non-compliances, through the use of various technological innovations and data sources, while demonstrating enhanced security, transparency and interoperability in the quality labelled food supply chain.

THEROS project is coordinated by the Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS) and its toolbox components will be extensively evaluated in real life settings through four pilot demonstrations in four different countries (Serbia, Greece, Spain and Czech Republic), while covering diverse requirements, involvement of all relevant actors and different organic/geographical indication food products and fraud/adulteration cases.

The Kick-off Meeting marked the starting point for the constructive and successful collaboration between all partners. During first day of the meeting, the project goals and objectives were highlighted, while all Work Package and Task Leaders leaders from the corresponding  WPs explained their roles, responsibilities, and visions for paving the way for the success of the project.

Within the same day, THEROS consortium had also the pleasure to welcome the CINEA Project Officer, Mr. Bela Atzel, who made an overview presentation about the structure of CINEA, and he also mentioned thoroughly the admin guidelines related to the Grant Agreement that need to be followed. He concluded his presentation by highlighting the expectations from the THEROS team.

The second day of the THEROS kick-off meeting was dedicated to the conduction of two workshops on User scenarios and requirements and on WP2/WP5 Pilot sites characteristics and Risk management and mitigation planning respectively.
