The 5th International “Organic Fest” in Banja Luka, organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of the Republic of Srpska, on 26th–27th September 2025.

OCS colleagues had the opportunity to participate in a panel dedicated to the topic of introducing organic food into public institutions – kindergartens, hospitals, and elderly care centers “The Power of Organic Food – Health on the Plate”.

The panel highlighted important issues such as the health benefits, practical challenges and obstacles, as well as the importance of certification and consumer trust in organic food.

🌍 During the two-day festival, around 20 certified organic producers from Republika Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, and Serbia presented their products. The event was organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of Republika Srpska.

🔍 OCS also presented the THEROS project, in a panel discussion towards delivering a brief update on THEROS project progress and discussed the pilot testing activities in Serbia. They mentioned that THEROS is a three-year initiative developing innovative tools (EEarth Observation–based ecosystem services, MEMS-based photonic systems and models, IoT sensor networks, DNA authenticity kits, blockchain-supported traceability systems, and digital product passports) aimed at improving transparency and trust in food supply chains. These technologies have the potential to significantly contribute to the development of sustainable organic production and its integration into the public sector.
